Parish Meeting

Tuesday 8th June 2010

Pentecost Sunday

Sunday 23rd March 2010

In addition to celebrating the day when the Disciples were given the power to preach the Gospel in any language, which is in effect the Birthday of the Church, the Church was packed back to the steps to witness the First Holy Communion of 11 children, and the Receiving into Church of one Adult, who is the Mother of two of the children

After Mass it was time for a celebration meal in the Church Hall

Saturday 3rd April 2010

Holy Saturday

The Easter celebration had a dramatic start with the lighting of the Easter Candle from a brazier at the back of the Church. Each Parishioner then had their candles lit to begin a Mass to recall the Resurrection of Jesus from the tomb on the third day after the crucifixion. The candles were lit again later in the Mass for the congregation to renew their Baptismal Promises

Palm Crosses

Palm Sunday

Sunday 28th March 2010

Christ arrived in Jerusalem on this day and Palm leaves were waved and thrown down as a covering on the ground for Him to ride over. On this Sunday we remember that event and are told about the events of the following week when He was crucified. The Palm leaves are folded into the shape of the cross to remind us.

Lent Lunches

If you have never tried the delicious Lent Lunches, Home Made Soup, Bread and Cheese, then you should do. I sampled a Leak and vegetable soup made by Sharon Alflatt, accompanied by Irish Soda Bread and Swiss Bread Buns made by her husband Hilary. I can recommend it so don't miss out this Friday at 12.

Lent Course

Wednesday 3rd March 2010

A Lent course is being held in the New Life Baptist Church. Each Wednesday evening we see an episode of the acclaimed BBC television series, The Passion, then we break up into smaller groups to discuss what we have seen. Well worth a try

Sunday 3rd January 2010

We can see in this photograph of the Nativity Scene that the Magi, or three Wise Men, have arrived bringing gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. This was reflected in the Gospel reading telling the story of how they followed a star to the place where Christ was born.

Police Constable Ian McNeil returning the camera

Saturday 2nd January 2010

After taking the above photographs on New Year's Day Flora James returned home and the next day she had a visit from the police. Apparently she had lost her camera on the way home and someone found it and handed it in to the police. They looked at the photographs and found the one of Father James cleaning his car. They checked the registration of the car and found Father James who pointed them in the direction of Flora James and the camera was safely delivered back to her.
